I started using Young Living Essential Oils back when I ran the L.A Marathon and it’s been love ever since. I even mention using Pan Away after my marathon and how it helped immensely.
“Today I am only sore on my thighs. I recently started using essential oils and there is one recommended to use after workouts. It’s called Pan Away. I mixed it with fragrance free lotion and rubbed in on my calfs and feet.”
“This morning I had no pain in those areas but my thighs are pretty sore. Wish I would have rubbed it all over my legs.”
I first used Oregano Oil when I was working at GNC, back when I was 18 years old. It’s kind of a really gross story, but I must say it as it is true and very helpful for those of you on the fence. It was Summer time and I went to a new nail salon with my sister. Back then I didn’t really get pedicures or manicures, so it was pretty random. Anyway, long story short, after I got a pedicure I ended up with a fungal infection on the side of my foot. I went to the doctor a handful of times for different medication. Both ointments and oral medication did not work. I think I had it for well over 3 months. It was horrible! And summer times in California are no time for closed shoes, but who wants to see ugly fungus. Ew, not pretty!
So I was working at GNC and I remember selling Oregano Oil a lot. Mostly for it’s anti bacterial anti virus properties. People normally buy it to fight off colds, etc. And one of the things I remember reading was that it was good internally and topically. That it would kill fungal infections. Even though I got an employee discount it was pretty pricy, but desperate as I was to get rid of my infection, I finally paid up. I think it was $30 with my discount. Which was pretty pricy 10 years ago, mind you it was a small bottle of oil.
Within a week I was completely cured! ONE WEEK! I also used it on my eczema, boom gone. So for 10 years I used it any time I had any kind of skin problem.
The only thing I did not like was 1. The VERY strong smell and 2. The burning sensation when I applied it to my skin. It’s a very strong oil. I didn’t know then that oils could be diluted.
Taking it back to last year. My very good friend and a neighbor both told me to use Oregano oil when I have a sore throat and that it would cure me before I got full on sick. Oh I forgot to mention, 3. It is disgusting and burns your throat. But it works! So suck it up and apply 1-3 drops way back by your throat. Have some juice ready to get rid of that horrific taste.
So the point of that Oregano ramble was to say that I was already an essential oil lover before I even realized!
I am all about natural remedies and I always believed in the power of Aloe Vera to cure anything and of course, Oregano Oil.
So now, back to L.A Marathon. I sign up with my neighbor Holly to Young Living. We both signed up at the same time but she started a week prior to me.
The funny this is that I was only trying to use the oils for the aroma purpose. Instead of using the kinds you buy at Bath and Body works, why not use these natural essential oils to make my home smell good?
Well Pan Away was part of my Starter Kit and Holly had mentioned it was good for sore muscles, so of course I tried it and it worked. Magic, just like Aloe Vera and Oregano! I had a new magical tool, yes!!!!
I have since tried all 10 oils that came in my starter kit. Some get more love then others, but I have come to really love these magical potions that make everything so much better.
When I am sick I use Thieves and Lemon oil in my tea. I rub RC on my chest when I have a cough. Headache or stomach ache, oh just dab some Peppermint oil.
When I want to clean, and now I am a chemical free home, I only use Thieves, water, baking soda, and vinegar.
My hyperactive kid is acting WAY too CRAZY!?
No worries, I have a concoction: Lavender, Cedarwood, Peace & Calming, diluted with coconut oil. Guess what, calms him down from a level 10 of high energy to a 1 or a 3. BOOM!
So yeah, I freaking LOVE MY OILS! And I can’t believe how effective they are, it sounds too good to be true, so unreal. But I am telling you, they are amazing. They are real, and they work!
I still have yet to find a concoction that helps me fall asleep on nights when I can’t. I normally don’t have an issue with this. But if I have a big day coming up and I am tossing and turning, Lavender or Stress Away have not done the trick, nor Cedarwood.
Frankincense oil in my face wash by Aveeno has really made my skin pretty and even toned. Tea Tree oil or Purification on any blemish clears them right up. And Rosemary, Cedarwood, Lavender, and Thyme in my shampoo have softened and made my hair shinier. It’s suppose to be for hair re-growth but I just use it to make my hair not frizzy after I wash it. It’s been doing just that.
I’ll post pictures in a few months of the hair results on my hubby, see if it helped him fill in some hairline problem areas.
My daughter could come and touch it, no chemicals to harm her. And no toxic smells. It actually smells so delicious. It has Clove oil, and Cinnamon, which reminds me of Fall, my favorite season.
I was amazed at how clean it left my glass with calcium buildup. I’ve used the store bought products and no matter how much I sprayed it, it NEVER got as clean as my thieves oil left it. And those calcium buildup cleaners are STRONG. If you’ve ever used them you know what I am talking about.
So for those of you who are on the fence, don’t be. These oils are great. I know YL is pricy, but they are high quality. I would not trust just any other brand. All oils are not created equal. Especially if you will ingest, or use topically. In the 10 years that I used Oregano, I noticed that some were weaker than compared to the one I got at GNC. The more you pay, the better the quality, for sure.
Your oils must be therapeutic grade. A lot of the other brands are not which makes them unsafe for anything except aroma therapy. Do your research for sure. Check out Young Living to learn as much as you can.
FYI if you become a member, which means sign up and buy a starter kit, you get 24% off from regular retail prices. It’s still pricy but at least this way you get a better deal. Sometimes Amazon sells them for a better deal, sometimes worse. :O The oils range from $11 to $150+, each. Most are between $20-$40. So signing up and getting a starter kit is the best deal. I think I paid $170 including taxes and shipping for my starter kit. It included the diffuser and 10 oils. Some of those oils are worth $50 or $70 each. Like my lovely Frankincense.
I also signed up for their rewards program, 3 months after the initial purchase. So I get points back when I make a purchase which can be redeemed to purchase more. (Free Oils) I wish I would have done it right away, I just didn’t know how addicted I was gonna get! The rewards program requires that you spend 50 per month, which is obviously easily done. :E So I hope that helped, for the love of Oily!!! 🙂
